OVERVIEW
This group project is an AR based art sharing platform. BEAM seeks to create a more engaging way for people to interact with, and share art. Through the utilization of location based AR technology, BEAM will allow artists to take their digital works and place it in a physical space. The goal of this application is not to make social media obsolete for artistic distribution, rather it is simply a fun way for artists to share their art, incentivize others to interact with it, and learn from other artists.

COMPETITIVE ANALYSIS
We researched different applications that were similar to what we were trying to accomplish. By doing this, we were able to identify the weak points and strong points of the app to see what we could improve on and what we could take inspiration from. Overall, we found that many users had difficulty navigating these apps and had no opportunity to interact with a community.
EYE JACK
Overall layout of interface is simple, however it is often difficult to navigate, the typeface is bland, and it has very little interactive elements.
SKETCHAR
Has a strong community aspect and good user interface, however, landing page can feel a bit overwhelming. App contains too many pay walls and has no tutorials.
WAFTY
It is simple, consistent, and works well. However, artists have no way of keeping their art, there is no interaction with other artists, and it does not entice user to engage with it for more than a few minutes.
USER RESEARCH
We conducted a survey using Google Forms to see how and where artists typically share their work. We also wanted to see how many people were familiar with AR and whether they would be interested in an AR based art sharing platform. We then created personas, empathy maps, and a user journey.
UX RESEARCH
We researched different apps of similar functionality to see what worked and what did not. We looked into location / mapped based apps like Geocaching and Estatesales.net to see how we could build our map feature. Next, we looked into augmented reality powered apps to understand it further. We also created an app flow chart to show functionality of app and how a user would navigate it.
MOBILE APP
FINAL APP FEATURES
App includes features such as: a map with cluster and individual marker locations, ability to create clusters and place art through the camera, a gallery which contains images of viewed art, bookmarked clusters, and liked art. The user's profile shows what clusters a user has made with links to their portfolio and/or social media to connect with them. Turn on notifications to be informed when their favorite artists post and alert them when they are near a cluster.
